About This Piece
Painted in March and April of the quarantine, PANDEMIC is a response to the general ineptitude and ignorance of leadership concerning both the coronavirus and our global climate crisis. Major references include Bruegel’s “Parable of the Blind” and Peter Blume’s “The Eternal City.” Imagery also references the iconic Monopoly Game tycoon, money-printing machine, the Tower of Babel, Clorox, Boeing Dream Liner, and the Carnival cruise ship. New York City and San Fransisco geo-flipped to show a world dangerously and unrecognizably out-of-kilter.
